Do I need Level 1 to join Level 2?
No, but prior preparation is needed before the in-person sessions begin. We will make sure you are ready.
How much time do I need to prepare?
16 hours of in-person classroom sessions plus a minimum of 11 hours of private study. Your Virtual Study & Support Program will guide you through every step.
Will I have support before the sessions start?
Yes — you will receive our Level 2 Virtual Study & Support Program to help you prepare, including videos, infographic cards, and mock exam questions.

WSET’s Level 2 in Wines is a beginner-to intermediate-level qualification. It explores wines and is suitable for industry pros and wine enthusiasts.
This wine course is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce.
You’ll explore wine by tasting and theory. You’ll learn about the factors that impact style and quality. And, you’ll learn to describe these wines with confidence.

Course delivery
This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours* of study time:
- 16 hours of delivery time with a WSET course provider (classroom or online)
- 11 hours of personal study and revision
- A 1-hour examination
Assessment
A one-hour closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions.
On successful completion of the examination you will receive a digital WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
